Activation cross sections for the reactions of {sup 187}Re(n,2n){sup 186m}Re [T1/2 = 2.0 {times} 10{sup 5} y] and {sup 193}Ir(n,2n){sup 192m2}Ir [T{sub {1/2}} = 241 y] at 14.9 MeV, were measured at FNS at JAERI. Efforts have been placed on the reduction of background to emerge weak {gamma}-ray lines incorporated with a Compton suppression {gamma}-ray spectrometer. The cross section for {sup 187}Re(n,2n){sup 186m}Re reaction was obtained for the first time with the direct measurement in this work. The measured data are compared with available experimental data along with the evaluation or theoretical calculation.
