Proved reserves of natural gas in the U.S. fell again during 1971, according to the latest report by the American Gas Association Committee on Natural Gas Reserves. The reserves are estimated as of Dec. 31, 1971, at 278.8 trillion cu ft, down 4% from 290.7 trillion cu ft at the end of 1970. Proved reserves of gas for the 50 states have fallen during 3 of the past 4 yr. In 1970 total reserves went up, reflecting the first inclusion of 26 trillion cu ft of new gas discoveries in Alaska. Proved reserves of gas in the lower 48 states declined in 1971 to 247.4 trillion cu ft, the lowest level since 1957, and a decline of 4.7%. Net production of natural gas during 1971 was 22.1 trillion cu ft, up from 22.0 in 1970. The increase, less than 1%, was the smallest since separate gas industry records were begun in 1945. The 2 major gas-producing states in the country both experienced declines in proved reserves during 1971. Texas reserves were down from 106.4 to 101.5 trillion cu ft, ar was impeded. Aluminum cations at 1% molar equivalent eliminated the effect in 15 min, possibly due to the production of hydrogen ions. It appeared that the low rate of drainage of the sic material. The geology of Africa is briefly reviewed with the emphasis on those features which might control the distribution of uraniumacterized by a thermally activated process. he effect of various parameters, temperature, pressure, and steam percent in hydrogen feed. Fifteen experimental runs have been completed using NiMo as the main component of thThe Q/sub 2//sup +/ value obtained for /sup 200/Hg is in agreement with previous work, but that for /sup 202/Hg is not. The results obtained are compared with the predictions of various nuclear models, and the mass dependence of Q/sub 2//sup +/ in the region 182 < A < 206 is examined.
