Restricted Data Transmission Controller progress report for 1989

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6214113
Last year, at the US Department of Energy (DOE) Computer Security Group (CSG) Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, an initial report was made concerning the Restricted Data Transmission Controller (RDTC). At that time, a demonstration of the prototype was made to the group. This paper reports on the development progress since that time, the specific modifications made to the RDTC, and possible future development. At the CSG Conference there was considerable interest in our development effort. It was shown that the RDTC allows for only a limited connection of dissimilarly classified computers. Yet many people felt that the RDTC could be of value to them at their locations. The big concern among CSG members was getting approval to install the RDTC. Obtaining this approval was the next logical development step. 5 refs., 1 fig.
