The role of regional activity forecasts in projecting emission trends of acid deposition precursors

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6213986
Under the auspices of the National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program, Argonne National Laboratory is currently integrating a set of emissions models into a consistent system composed of coordinated modules. The integrated model is being designed to provide emissions forecasts to the year 2030, by sector and by region. This paper provides an overview of this integrated model, briefly describes the regional forecasts underlying the sectoral emissions projections, and includes a short discussion of the methods used to determine the secondary impacts of policies aimed at controlling acid deposition. Some standard economic principles are reviewed as a guide for policy evaluation. 12 refs., 4 figs., 3 tabs.
