A PC program for displaying data-from the Joint Evaluated File (JEF) library

The OECD`s Nuclear Energy Agency Data Bank is part of a network of data centres traditionally charged with assisting free information exchange in the worldwide nuclear community by providing a central repository for nuclear data. Evaluated nuclear data is often stored in one of a number of well defined formats, such as, for example, the Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF) format. These provide a standardized and comprehensive means of representing nuclear data, and are particularly suited to large datasets and computational applications. However, these formats are often complex and difficult to interpret for casual users. In an attempt to make the available data more easily accessible to a wider user community, as well as providing a useful tool for existing users, a PC package for accessing and displaying nuclear data, was developed jointly by the NEA, CSNSM-Orsay, France, and The University of Birmingham, UK. A previously developed program for displaying radioactive decay data from the Joint Evaluated File (JEF) in the form of the {open_quotes}Chart of the Nuclides{close_quotes} was well received in the user community. The current package includes a new driver program offering additional utilities and two new databases containing Fission Product Yields and Cross Section data from the JEF-2.2 library.
