Automated gas-liquid relative permeameter

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6211049
An automated gas-liquid relative permeameter is described for determining the relative permeability of a core sample, the permeameter comprising: means (40) for providing a vacuum; means (30) for providing a supply of helium gas; means (20) for providing a supply of nitrogen gas; means (80) connected to the vacuum and nitrogen providing means for holding the core at a predetermined pressure; means (120) engaging the top of the core and connected to the holding means for applying the predetermined pressure to the top of the core; means (70) cooperative with the applying means and connected to the helium providing means and the nitrogen providing means for supplying the helium gas to the top of the core under control of the nitrogen gas; means (100) engaging the bottom of the core and removably connected to the holding means for delivering the predetermined pressure to the bottom of the core; means (90) cooperative with the delivering means for collecting produced liquid from the core sample when the helium gas is supplied to the top of the core by supply means; means (240) engaging the produced liquid collecting means for instantaneously weighing the collected fluid; means (110) cooperative with the delivering means for collecting produced helium gas from the core sample when the helium gas is supplied to the top of the core by the supplying means; means (258) connected to the produced helium collecting means for instantaneously measuring the pressure of the collected helium gas; and means (60) connected to the weighing means and to the measuring means for automatically determining the gas-liquid relative permeability of the core sample.
