Status and outlook for oil recovery by steam injection

Conference · · Annual API Production Dept.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6208907
Commercial oil recovery by use of steam began in the U.S. in 1960 when Shell achieved success in their first field trial. This project was located in the Yorba Linda field in S. California. Since that time, steam injection has grown to play a major role in oil production. This study traces the history of this growth and looks at the future. It also discusses possibilities for further enhancing production via steam and considers constraints to that growth. 12 references.
