Methane Conversion
Methane Conversion is a collection of papers from the Symposium on the Production of Fuels and Chemicals from Natural Gas held in Auckland, New Zealand, in April 1987. The papers come from a blend of academic and industrial authors, which is one of the strengths of the book. The conversion of natural gas to higher molecular hydrocarbons is certainly an important topic with active research in well over 50 groups throughout the world. The collection of papers in this book succeeds in putting these programs in perspective. The book thoroughly discusses the chemistry, development, and commercialization for the first natural gas to gasoline plant built in New Zealand using Mobil's MTG technology. It also discusses the economic aspects of this technology as built and, more importantly, as will be built in the future. There is also important information on future improvements in methanol technology in general.
