The stampig method of coking was developed in Germany. It differs from the top-charging method only in the way the coke ovens are charged. A stamping machine compacts the coal charge which is then introduced into the coke chamber from the machine side. Described are the most essential features of the stamping technology System Saarberg, which are: an operationally reliable coking method proven in large scale application; economic production of blast furnace, foundry, and chemical coke with high quality properties; high economic efficiency due to favourable production costs, particularly by utilizing high volatile and low baking coals; high degree of automation which in addition to greater productivity contributes to humanizing working conditions; application in large chamber ovens of up to 6 m height and up to 50 tons of charging coal blends with 150 oven cycles per 24 hours and machine set; and subsequent conversion possibility for other coking methods (top-charging method, conventional stamping method).
