Title: Source and ambient air monitoring for chlorinated hydrocarbons using modified high-volume sampling techniques

Although the need to monitor for low levels of organochloride materials has been apparent for several years, the recent emphasis on toxic materials sampling in the total environment has necessitated the use of sampling procedures that are both reliable and relatively easily used. The Texas Air Control Board (TACB) has selected an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) designed sampler to fulfill these needs. The TACB has used the results of these studies to construct ten samplers in the configuration of the later EPA version of this sampler at a cost of approximately $1410 per sampler. This cost includes expenses for labor and hardware to fabricate the sampler. A commercial version of the sampler is now available at a cost of $1470. This paper describes the sampling methods used by the TACB and the specific applications of the sampler in both source oriented and ambient monitoring situations.
