Bill H.R. 5232, the Southwestern Low-Level Radioactive Waste disposal Compact Consent Act, grants the consent of Congress to the states of Arizona, California, and any eligible states as defined in Article VII of the Southwestern Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact to enter into such a compact. The compact policy and formation is set forth; the Southwestern Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission is established, and its make-up and function are described. The rights, responsibilities, and obligations of the member states are spelled out. The bill was referred jointly to the Committees on Energy and Commerce and Interior and Insular Affairs.
