Measurement of the spin-rotation parameters /ital R/ and /ital A/ in. pi. /sup /minus///ital p/ elastic scattering at 450 and 560 MeV

The spin-rotation parameters /ital A/ and /ital R/ in ..pi../sup /minus///ital p/ elasticscattering have been measured for the first time in the range of low-lyingpion-nucleon resonances. The experiment was performed at ..pi../sup /minus// meson energies450 and 560 MeV using a polarized target with horizontal spin orientation and apolarimeter of optical spark chambers with television read-out. The measurementresults are compared with predictions of phase-shift analyses.
