Electron transport properties of amorphous (ZR/sub 0. 64/Ni/sub 0. 36/)/sub 1/minus//ital x//Al/sub /ital x// alloys

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
Measurements of the electrical resistivity /rho/(/ital T/), thermopower/ital S/(/ital T/), and Hall coefficient /ital R//sub /ital H// for a series of rapidlyquenched Zr-Ni-Al alloys are reported for concentrations from /ital x/=0 to0.25. The resistivity is large (/rho/approx.200 ..mu cap omega.. cm) andincreases with Al content as does /ital R//sub /ital H//, which is positive for allconcentrations studied. The thermopower is positive but decreases in magnitudewith Al concentration. A consistent qualitative explanation of theconcentration dependence of /rho/, /ital R//sub /ital H//, and /ital S/ issuggested.
