Dynamic dipole polarizabilities [alpha][sub [ital d]]([omega]) have been calculated within and beyond the normal-dispersion region for the isoelectronic members of argon up to Mn[sup 7+] using time-dependent coupled Hartree-Fock theory. Excitation energies, oscillator strengths, and quantum-defect values have been estimated for the dipole-allowed transitions 3[ital p][sup 6] [sup 1][ital S[ital e]][r arrow]3[ital p][sup 5]([sup 2][ital P])[ital ns] [sup 1][ital P[ital o]] ([ital n]=4,...,7) and 3[ital p][sup 6] [sup 1][ital S[ital e]][r arrow]3[ital p][sup 5]([sup 2][ital P])[ital nd] [sup 1][ital P[ital o]] ([ital n]=3,...,7). Analytic representations of the singly excited Rydberg orbitals have been obtained. The results compare favorably with the existing theoretical and experimental data. The oscillator strengths show an interesting trend of variation along the isoelectronic sequence.
