Advanced control and instrumentation systems for BWR plants

Conference · · Trans. Am. Nucl. Soc.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6194126
For more reliable operation of boiling water reactor (BWR) plants, successive steps have been taken to improve their performance in terms of control and instrumentation by applying computer and human factor technologies. As a first step, the authors developed the NUCAMM-80 plant monitoring and control system. This system consists of an operator console and a plant computer system. In NUCAMM-80, the principal consideration is the improvement of man/machine interfaces, such as intensive displays of plant performance by color CRTs and automatic start-up and shutdown. This system has been fully tuned through start-up tests for commercial operation. As a second step, performance of NUCAMM-80 was enhanced through the following functions: Operation guidance function; Digital controller; and Optical transmission way.
