No large anomaly in the ionization cross sections for C/sup 6 +/ projectiles at 4. 75 MeV/amu

Recently reported gas-ionization cross sections for C/sup 6 +/ projectiles at 4.75 MeV/amu, which were factors of 2-- 4 above the predictions of a semiclassical scaling model, are shown to be within 30% of Born and Bethe cross sections extracted from the literature.
