Total cross sections of the reactions. pi. N. --> pi pi. N close to threshold in the theory of chiral symmetry breaking

The experimental data on the cross sections for the reactions ..pi..N..--> pi pi..N are described in the framework of the theory of chiral symmetry breaking. The pion-nucleon tree diagrams, unitarization of the ..pi pi..-scattering amplitude, and the tree diagrams with ..delta../sub 33/-isobar exchange are systematically taken into account in this work.
