Hydrocarbon conversion processes over crystalline borosilicate catalysts for pseudocumene recovery
A process is described to upgrade a hydrocarbon feed stream containing at least 2 wt% pseudocumene together with about 0.01 to about 5 wt% C/sub 10/ paraffins and naphthenes, about 0.1 to about 30 wt% propyl and butylbenzenes, and about 0.5 to about 70 wt% ethyltoluenes. These comprise contacts with such hydrocarbon feed stream with a catalyst comprising AMS-1B crystalline borosilicate molecular sieve in the presence of hydrogen. At least 30 wt% of such C/sub 10/ paraffins and naphthenes are converted to C/sub 1/-C/sub 7/ paraffin and naphthenes. At least 80 wt% of such propyl and butylbenzenes are converted to benzene, and at least 20 wt% of such ethyltoluenes are converted to toluene. The weight percent pseudocumene content of the resulting stream is not changed substantially.
