This paper discusses the use of compact disk-read only memory (CD-ROM) for disseminating emission inventory training material, documentation of emission inventories, and emissions data bases. The current trend toward shrinking resources in state and federal government agencies as well as in the private sector is causing a reexamination of traditional mechanisms for distributing information. While the resources for information transfer have been decreasing, the need for sharing information remains strong and in many cases is increasing. Many government agencies and private entities are turning to newer technologies such as the Internet to convey information to their target audience at reduced costs. CD-ROM`s are also being used more and more for distributing information. This paper examines the efficacy of CD-ROM`s for distributing training materials for emission inventory preparation, documentation of actual emission inventories, and distributing emission inventory data.
