Importance of sulfur as a plant nutrient in world crop production

A trend toward sulfur deficiencies in crop production is shown to exist because of the increasing use of S-free fertilizers, decreasing use of S-containing pesticides, and increasing crop yields. The importance of atmospheric supplies of sulfur is discussed.
