Process of treating a water bearing formation
A process is described for treating underground water-bearing formations adjacent to and radially spaced from a well bore. The well bore contains perforated well casing passing through the formation and open above and below the static water level. A conduit passes from the surface to the formation and within the casing. The steps of the treatment are as follows: (1) passing water down the well bore and into the formation above the static water level; (2) passing a limited amount of formation treating agent down the conduit and injecting the agent into the formation beneath the cone while liquid from the cone of water is flowing downward in the formation; and (3) discontinuing the addition of the treating agent to the conduit and passing another liquid down the conduit and driving the treating liquid down the conduit and out into the formation while cone of water above the static water level is flowing downward in the well and formation. The treating agent may be hydrochloric acid. (7 claims)
