Twenty-two monitoring sites using battery powered portable PM10 samplers were located in a saturation monitoring network surrounding a core air quality monitoring site in Corcoran, California during the fall portion of the 1995 Integrated Monitoring Study (IMS95-Fall). IMS95 is a planning study designed to address specific questions for the California Regional PM10 Air Quality Study (CRPAQS). Saturation monitoring sites were placed to evaluate the representativeness of the core site and the sphere of influence of sources within the saturation study domain that encompassed the Corcoran/Hanford area. PM{sub 10} mass and NH{sub 3} were obtained at all sites every day for 14 days, while PM 10 composition (ions, EC/OC, and elements by XRF) and HNO{sub 3} are being determined at ten of those sites during 9 of the 14 days. Preliminary data analysis of the PM10 mass data indicate that synoptic and local meteorology play a major role in defining concentrations in the study area. Above this general control of PM10 concentrations, local sources add to the observed day-to-day and site-to-site variability. The maximum 24-hr average PM10 concentration observed was 308 {mu}g/m{sup 3} and all sites experience a value of over 150 {mu}g/m{sup 3} at least once during the study. Sites were classified into agricultural, residential, and industrial and no significant difference was observed among the categories, although there was a general trend, on the average for industrial sites to be slightly higher than the other site types. 5 refs., 6 figs., 4 tabs.
