National water summary 1985--hydrologic events and surface-water resources
The summary for 1985 is the third of an annual series by the USGS that describes the conditions, trends, variability, quality, and use of the Nation's water resources. An overview is presented of the distribution, characteristics, uses, and management of the surface-water resources in each of the States and the territories. Each State summary contains multicolor maps showing the location of principal river basins, rivers, reservoirs, hydropower plants, graphs showing average annual discharges and average seasonal variations in precipitation and runoff; and tables presenting streamflow and water-use statistics. Also described are State agencies, laws, and regulations pertaining to surface-water management.
