(. gamma. ,p) and (. pi. ,p) reactions in the. delta. (1232) resonance region

A sample of the available experimental data on (..gamma..,p) and (..pi..,p) reactions in complex nuclei is presented, together with a few recent results on the (..gamma..,np) and (..pi../sup +/,pp) processes. The data are seen to provide information on photon and pion interaction mechanisms in the ..delta.. (1232) resonance region.
