This project was aimed at investigating some of the computer and communication technologies on which imaging applications are being and will be built (high-speed networks, quality-preserving continuous-media protocols, large and fast storage servers), and demonstrating the use of those technologies in some energy-related applications. It complemented and provided useful technological underpinnings to several Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory research efforts supported by DOE, in particular to the following: High Speed Distributing of Network-based Video Microscopy, and Supercomputer Access Techniques.
