ROV role grows as depths increase

The use of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in offshore oil and gas exploration is discussed. One of the most promising segments of the industry for ROVs is in the area of drilling support. The ROV is the only viable tool for subsea operations as drilling operations move into deepwater areas. The operation and capabilities of ROVs are discussed.
