Costs of steam injection in the San Joaquin Valley

Various methods are described and related costs are given for the installation and operation of steam injection projects in 2 different areas of the San Joaquin Valley, Calif. The capital expenditures for early installations are compared with those designed after operating experience indicated that anticipated pressures exceeding 1,000 psig would not materialize. The operating costs are compared for various well preparation and injection methods. A tabulation of these costs indicates the reductions made possible by eliminating repetitive procedures and minimizing operating labor requirements.
