DOR-ER direct oxide reduction electrorefining at Rocky Flats
Direct oxide reduction (DOR) is a one-step process for converting plutonium dioxide to plutonium metal. Calcium metal, a strong reducing agent, reacts with the plutonium dioxide. The impure plutonium metal is purified by electrorefining (ER).
