Electronic structure, electron--phonon interaction, and suppression of superconductivity in TmS

We present a self-consistent, relativistic calculation of the band structure of a TmS crystal. We calculate the electron--phonon interaction parameters in the rigid muffin-tin approximation. The electron--phonon coupling constant is computed to be lambda = 4.14 by using experimental values of the specific heat. We show why a superconducting transition is impossible in TmS even for such large values of lambda.
