Cadmium (e,2e) energy spectra have been measured which show the effects of electron impact exchange processes at large scattering angles. As the scattering angle is increased from 2{degree} to 15{degree} the relative peak intensities of the {sup 3}P{sub 1} and {sup 1}P{sub 1} 4d{sup 9}5s{sup 2}5p autoionizing resonances change by a factor of 3. A semiempirical model is presented which seeks to parametrize all the data in terms of a single constant. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society}
