PBFA II conceptual design

The PBFA-II accelerator conceptual design is outlined. Initial Marx generator studies indicate a sound design of the energy storage section of the accelerator. Computer modeling of the pulse forming network indicates double-bounce charging can produce the desired machine output at safe field stress levels. The effects of obtainable jitters in the various accelerator components have been studied and appear to have an acceptable degradation on machine output. Research and development is under way on a low jitter, laser triggered switch.
