In response to utility requests for help in preparing consistent and acceptable 10CFR50.59 safety evaluations, a committee of utility, vendor. Electric Power Research Institute, and Nuclear Management and Resources Council representatives was formed to prepare a safety evaluation guideline and its history. It also suggests ways to approach the use of probabilistic risk assessment in 10CFR50.59 safety reviews and ways to screen insignificant activities that do not need a 10CFR50.59 safety evaluation.
