Observations of comet Giacobini-Zinner at the 1. 667 GHz OH line

Comet Giacobini-Zinner was observed during an 18 day interval just prior to its perihelion passage. The 1667 GHz OH line appeared in obsorption, as expected, but showed large intensity fluctuations from day to day.Comparisons are made with subsequent observations of Comet Halley. 5 references.
