Inviscid/boundary layer prediction of aeroheating on a bent-axis biconic

Newly developed inviscid and boundary layer codes are applied to the prediction of aerodynamic heating on both on-axis and bent-axis biconic orbital transfer vehicle configurations proposed by NASA. The inviscid code solves the full three-dimensional form of the nonconservative Euler equations. It features parabolic grid generation and an improved method of characteristics boundary condition. The boundary layer code solves the integral forms of the momentum and energy equations along inviscid streamlines. Generally good agreement is found in comparisons of the inviscid/boundary layer predictions with the experimental data.
