The national petroleum council EOR Study: Thermal processes

Conference · · Soc. Pet. Eng. AIME, Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6142400
The EOR thermal potential of the United States has been estimated from an improved data base and individual reservoir assessment. Reservoirs with ongoing thermal projects were evaluated by means of an industry survey. Future projects were evaluated by simplified model predictions. Predictions for Implemented and Advanced Technology compare current proven practice with anticipated future technology development. For an assumed base economic case, the Implemented Technology potential is estimated at 6.5 billion barrels. The Advanced Technology potential for this case is estimated at 10.5 billion barrels. These values include oil consumed as generator fuel.
