[alpha] spectrum from [sup 16]N [beta] decay and the [sup 12]C([alpha],[gamma])[sup 16]O reaction

New data on the spectrum of [alpha] particles following the [sup 16]N [beta] decay are used to revise and extend a previous evaluation of the [ital E]1 part of the astrophysical [ital S] factor for the [sup 12]C([alpha],[gamma])[sup 16]O reaction.
