Skyrmions in the presence of vector mesons

The nonlinear sigma model with the Wess-Zumino term is extended to the low-lying vector meson resonances ..omega.., rho and A/sub 1/. These resonances are treated as chiral gauge multiplets in a minimally broken SU(2)/sub L/xSU(2)/sub R/xU(1)/sub V/ gauge model. The bulk properties of hedgehog skyrmions are investigated. The results indicate a clear improvement over the conventional Skyrme model.
