1975 National conference on areawide carpooling. [9 papers]
As the number of programs involved in stressing ridesharing across the country increases, the need for coordination and information also increases. In response to this demonstrated need, the conference was conducted, emphasizing the increased interaction of areawide carpool activities with long-term transportation planning. Nine papers are presented, one specifically on the Houston public transportation system improvements. The others deal with cooperation in planning, benefits, environmental costs, bus service, legal and regulatory issues, educational programs, motivation and social patterns. Five workshop sessions deal with marketing and promotion, computer matching improvements, vanpooling, management, and incentives. (MCW)
