The USAF is pursuing the automation of entry control through the implementation of the AECS program. The AECS will minimize human intervention in the positive control functions and will retain a high authorized entry accuracy. The AECS has the ability to allow the operator to make the final decision concerning access into a secure area which meets the requirement for protection of critical nuclear assets. The system uses NDI technology to perform the various personnel identification, control and alarm activities. The AECS presents the alarm operator with system status and alarm information prioritized for quick reaction. System growth will allow for future expansion of system functions to adapt state-of-the-art security technology to user needs. The AECS will provide access control and intrusion detection (i.e. stand alone) or operate with existing intrusion detection annunciation. This allows the AECS to provide an integrated security solution which meets the customer`s diverse security requirements.
