NGPA deregulation: not all that it should be for producers

Journal Article · · TIPRO Rep.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6137507
Various misconceptions about deregulation under the Natural Gas Policy Act are discussed as well as the proposed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations of September 13, 1984. In presenting FERC's interpretation of NGPA, the author notes that FERC has apparently convinced itself that Congress intended that no gas qualifying for a regulated price category could be sold at a price above the market after January 1, 1985. He notes a dilemma for the producers as to whether or not they will vigorously oppose the deregulation of regulated categories - which would be interpreted as backing away from the goal of deregulation.
