Electrostatic particle-in-cell simulation technique for quasineutral plasma

In this paper a new approach is developed to simulate a quasineutral plasmas with both electrons and ions. In this approach the electrostatic field is determined from the requirement of quasineutrality rather than from a poisson equation. By using grid spacing wide compared to the debye length, and time steps long compared to the electron plasma frequency, this technique can be used to treat a wide variety of plasma problems.
