Nonstationary contact problem for a solid body in an elastic half-space

This paper presents an integral equation for a nonstationary contact problem for reaction of a body with an elastic half-space with an extended area of contact. An assumption is made about the slowness of change in contact stresses along the area of contact and with time in relation to width of the area and running time of a Rayleigh wave for this distance. The results obtained may be used in the design of extended structures for reaction of dynamic loads of the seismic type.
