Centrifuges cut oil change costs in half at NYC shopping mall

This article describes the use of centrifuges in five double turbocharged engines in an energy plant at a New York City shopping mall. The result of the use of the centrifuges has been a marked decrease in the use of lubricating oil. While the mechanics formerly changed oil and filters twice a year, they now only change it when the oil analysis says they should. So far it has been estimated that an oil change is needed only once a year, cutting oil and filter usage in half. An estimated annual saving of $1000 for lubricating oil and $476 for the 28 filters on each engine, which is a direct savings of $7380 per year for all five engines.
