The Pauli blocking effect on the pionic decay rate of /sub ..lambda..//sup 5/He is investigated with the ..lambda..-..cap alpha.. potential obtained from the hard-core ..lambda..-N potential. The repulsive core of the ..lambda..-N interaction reduces the Pauli blocking effect and enhances the pionic decay rate by about 30%. The lifetime of /sub ..lambda..//sup 5/He deduced from this investigation is in good agreement with the experimental one.
