Analysis of the energy issues in health care

The report identifies significant issues that must be considered for energy conservation in health care institutions. Background information is discussed in five areas: goals; incentives; responsibilities; policies; implementation; legalities; financing; and technology. Twenty-nine significant issues are extracted from the eight areas. Six identified as the key issues are: cost containment through energy conservation; realistic ventilation standards; adequate data collection; disseminating energy information; emphasis on low-cost/no-cost programs; and third-party payers' conservation incentives.
