Title: Evaluation of the Liberian Petroleum Refining Company operations: crude oil refining vs product importation

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6128017

This report is one of a series of project papers providing background information for an assessment of energy options for Liberia, West Africa. It presents information on a controversial recommendation of the energy assessment - that the only refinery in the country be closed and refined products be imported for a savings of approximately $20 million per year. The report reviews refinery operations, discusses a number of related issues, and presents a detailed analysis of the economics of the refinery operations as of 1982. This analysis corroborates the initial estimate of savings to be gained from importing all refined products. 1 reference, 24 tables.
