Energy-transport-system optimization for distributed networks of solar collectors

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6121224
A computer program, ETRANS, was developed for optimizing the piping network associated with distributed networks of solar collectors. ETRANS employs frequently cited field layouts for dish and trough collectors. Using discrete piping component sizes, ETRANS determines realistic estimates of operating expenses and capital item costs. The field layouts employed, the system performance calculations, and the costing methodology are described. Also included are results of preliminary simulations of dish and trough collector fields over a range of sizes and operating parameters.
