The three major task areas of the DOE Photovoltaic Concentrator Project, which are concentrator solar cell technology, solar concentrator technology, and concentrator array subsystems, are described. Progress is reported in concentrator cell development, including cell efficiency achievements and cell assembly and production processes. The development of efficient, low cost comentrators and concentrator manufacturing processes is discussed. A brief discussion of research in the design, fabrication and operation of full-size photovoltaic concentrator array is given and some test results are reported.
