The success of the National Synchrotron Light Source in the years to come will be based, in large part, on the size of the user community and the diversity of the scientific disciplines represented by these users. In order to promote this philosophy, the NSLS User's Manual: Guide to the VUV and X-Ray Beamlines-Fourth Edition, is being published. This Manual presents to the scientific community-at-large the current and projected architecture, capabilities and research programs of the various VUV and X-ray beamlines. The Manual is updated periodically in order to keep pace with constant on these beamlines.
