Canadians size up US hydro export market

The recent announcement of a $15 billion, 29-year export agreement in principal with Central Maine Power may speed up by two years the construction schedule of Hydro-Quebec's James Bay Phase II hydroelectric development. And in the west, a six-month study by several public and private utilities in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California, has confirmed there is a sufficient future US export market to support the construction of an export-dedicated hydroelectric generating station in British Columbia.
